Bio:
Over 30 years ago, as a young doctoral student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, my wife was unfaithful and wanted a divorce. An unfaithful spouse can stir up a lot of pain and anger. But I had even more reasons to be angry. My entire future, career, and even degree were on the line. Anger consumed me. Unpleasant thoughts and desires swirled through my mind. To distract myself from the pain and rage, I began to run. While I had been a short-distance runner in college, I’d never run distances. Even though my first time around the track was difficult, I became like Forest Gump. I ran. And ran. And ran some more. I figured out how to drain the anger with each lap around the track. Four months later, I completed a full marathon in under four hours. And in the meantime, I found peace and forgiveness. Rather than give in to the destructive nature of anger, I learned how to constructively drain it. But it took a lot more than just running. I learned the secrets of gaining control over the extremely powerful emotion of anger. Now I want to share those secrets with you [Read More]

Even the strongest among us can feel lost, unsure, ambivalent, or unhappy at times. I believe a strong relationship between the counselor and the client fosters an environment for change by providing unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuineness. Everyone has a unique puzzle and different pieces that makes up who they are. As we begin to delicately restructure each piece, clients can begin their journey of self-exploration and work toward their desired change. Let me help you learn and develop better ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of your goals. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health that focuses on women and even fathers struggling with postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. My mission is to educate, strengthen, and empower moms so that they may flourish and grow with the confidence that they can approach daily challenges of parenting without self-doubt. Throughout my journey of PPD, I came to realize that just talking to someone makes a world of difference. My journey has helped me put the pieces back together and truly understand what it’s like to be on the other side of the couch!! My experience has motivated me to turn my new found passion into a full-time career. [Read More]

Over the past 15 years, I have had the unique opportunity to counsel people in Europe, Asia and North America. In my work, I have had the privilege of counseling people of various ages, nationalities, races and cultures. We all strive for perfection. I strongly believe that everyone has the power and potential to overcome interpersonal struggles, relational difficulties, and life crises. Throughout my training in Marriage and Family Counseling (MA), Christian Counseling (MA), and Psychology and Counseling (Ph.D.), I learned the importance of helping people to first regain hope and then to discover their inner strength as well as their outer support to achieve emotional and spiritual health. I strive to tailor my therapeutic approach to the needs of my clients in order to help them find short-term relief and long-term solutions. I love working with the “littles” (children 5-10 years old)! They are one of my favorite populations. I enjoy helping them learn how to manage their emotions, control their behaviors and build self confidence by improving their behaviors. It is my goal to help them grow and engage in a big world that is not always set up for them. I work with families to help them open up communication, parent with positive discipline, and recreate a routine that works for them. I believe building positive self esteem helps the littles make behavioral changes that last. I have 7 years of experience with children in individual and group therapy. I enjoy working with children who have behavioral issues at school/ home, ADHD, depression, anxiety and children who have high functioning autism (Asperger’s Syndrome). I enjoy teaching social skills groups, self esteem building, and coping skills. My goal is to meet your family where you are on the journey, and help you and your child find joy in childhood again.
